Boys and Young Men Toolkit - Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).
This is a toolkit for professionals working with boys and young men at risk of sexual exploitation.
It is important to understand the deficiencies in CSE toolkits, especially any tools which are checklists and are used to indicate a low, medium or high level of risk. These are blunt instruments which can overlook significant factors and lead professionals to inaccurately assess a situation as low risk. Dr Jessica Taylor provides useful discussion on the use of CSE toolkits. This can be accessed by clicking here.
Whilst it's important to understand the limitations and the changing understanding of CSE and effective assessment and intervention of this, practitioners need to know and understand how CSE impacts on the children and young people we work with.
The Children's Society, Victim Support and the National Police Chief's Council, have jointly developed a toolkit for professionals to better understand CSE of boys and young men.
