Supporting Those with a Personality Disorder
Personality Disorder can be controversial, in part as there is no clear cut off for what is considered behaviour traits and a disorder. The name it's self is uncomfortable and can easily be seen why the diagnosis can be stigmatising. Using the word "disordered" when referring to someones personality, is not language which is sensitive or helpful.
This is the language currently used and this guide is helpful is considering how best to respond and engage with people who not only have a personality disorder; but also those who struggle with interpersonal relationships and engagements.
