What Survival looks like...in secondary school

This guide is for teachers and staff in an educational setting. It looks at survival responses in young people who have experienced trauma.

It clearly and briefly sets out what happens when the brain goes into survival mode and common things which will be seen. This includes freeze, fight, flight and submit.

All too often young people who have experienced trauma are misunderstood in their responses and reactions to their environment. This guide is useful not only for educators, but also for parents, carers and those who work with young people to better enable them to advocate on behalf of young people.
